Motivation

Every year I tell myself that if I buy new running shoes, it will make me want to work out. And I do... for about a week. Then I decide that sitting on my ass is more fun. Le Sigh.

I made a new years resolution that I was going to run a 5k at some point this year [which I figured would never really happen].

Rewind to Thursday... I'm sitting in my cubicle minding my own business when one of my friends/coworkers [an avid workoutaholic] says it would be fun for all of us to run a race together... more specifically, the Run for the Border Race.

Run for the Border takes place on cinco de mayo in downtown Cleveland. Its a team event... everyone wears giant sombreros and runs 3 to 3.5 mile run with no set course. Each team of 2 is given a map of the area and the locations of 5 checkpoints [which all happen to be bars]. Teams receive a green card that must be stamped after they complete a task, and enjoy an adult mexican beverage at each checkpoint.

I haven't run for leisure... ever, but bring on the tequila! I have until cinco de mayo to train, and not look like an asshole amongst coworkers who actually like running.

And to keep with tradition, I now own a pair of these:

[Nike Free Run+ 2  which I bought at finishline]

old habits die hard.
